On the 1881 census he is shown as being 18 years old but not engaged in any employment 1 Events • His birth was registered during the quarter ended Sep 1862 at the Ecclesall Bierlow registration district, with GRO reference vol 9c, page 216. 3 • On 2 Apr 1871 he appeared on the census at Stead's Yard No 1, Crookes, Nether Hallam, Yorks as an eight-year-old. 4 • On 3 Apr 1881 John appeared on the census at 20 East Side of Crookes, Nether Hallam, Yorks as a 18-year-old who was crippled. 2 • On 5 Apr 1891 he appeared on the census at 34 Crookes, Nether Hallam, Yorks as a 30-year-old who had been crippled from childhood. 5 |
