William GASCOYNE
(Abt 1791-1875) |
William GASCOYNE 1 2 3
Cause of his death was old age, paralysis 2 days.4 Events • On 7 Jun 1841 William appeared on the census at Brunton Row, East Brunton, Northumberland as a 50-year-old coal miner but may have been between 50 and 54. 1 • On 24 Nov 1844 the marriage certificate between Henry Gascoine and Eleanor Jones said he was a Weaver. 5 • He also appeared on the 1851 census in Usworth, Co. Durham as a 56-year-old hawker. 2 • On 30 Mar 1851 he also appeared on the census at Nimmis Entry, Newcastle, Northumberland as a 60-year-old labourer living with his son, Henry. One possible explanation is that he was working in Durham, had gone back to visit his son but his wife told the census taker that he was actually living with her. This doesn't explain the age difference. William married Martha ATKINSON. (Martha ATKINSON was born about 1797 in Ireland 1 2 and died on 17 Aug 1855 in Gateshead, Co. Durham 6.) The cause of her death was "poisened herself with laudenum when under the influence of spirits".4 |
