• On 5 Apr 1891 he appeared on the census at 8 Lower Russell Street, Miles Platting, Lancs as an eighteen-year-old washer on railway. 6
• On 22 Dec 1894 his marriage certificate said that he was a 21-year-old batchelor and a steel dresser and that he lived at 230 Cobden Street, Manchester, Lancs. His father, George Mullender, was a plate layer. The Cobden Street address was probably an accommodation address, since his wife was also shown living there and a different family appeared there on the 1891 census. 2
• On 31 Mar 1901 William appeared on the census at 105 Ryder Street, Collyhurst, Lancs as a 28-year-old railway playelayer. 7
• On 2 Apr 1911 he appeared on the census at 55 Ryder Street, Collyhurst, Lancs as a 38-year-old lodge keeper at a cotton spinning factory. 3
• On 26 Dec 1924 Herbert Carey and Lavinia Mullender's marriage certificate said he was a foreman platelayer. 8
William married Jane JONES, daughter of Joseph JONES and Margaret CHAPMAN, on 22 Dec 1894 in The Parish Church, Manchester, Lancs.1 2 (Jane JONES was born about 1876 in Newton Heath, Lancs 9.)
