• On 31 Mar 1901 William appeared on the census at Beggar Hill, Fryerning, Essex as a 21-year-old brickyard labourer. ⁴

• On 2 Apr 1911 he appeared on the census at Brook Cottage, Beggar Hill, Fryerning, Essex as a 31-year-old carman for contractor. ⁶

• His death was registered during the quarter ended Sep 1949 at the Chelmsford registration district, with GRO reference vol 4a, page 360. ⁵

William married Martha HARRIS about 1903.¹ (Martha HARRIS was born about 1878 in Pontypool, Mon ⁶.)

• Their marriage was registered during the quarter ended Mar 1903 at the Chelmsford registration district, with GRO reference vol 4a, psge 555. ¹

  Marriage Notes:

The only reference I have found so far to William's wife is Mrs William Oddy in the 1911 census. She has been married 8 years. There are two William Oddy marriages in Chelmsford between Jun 1902 and Mar 1903: William John marries Elizabeth Martha Brewster in Jun 1902 and William marries Martha Harris in Mar 1903.

Martha appears in the 1901 census born in Monmouthshire. Elizabeth seems to be born in Essex.

I'm assuming that Mrs William Oddy is the former Martha Harris. ¹
