His father, Richard James Pharoah, was also a labourer. 1 • On 3 Apr 1881 Richard appeared on the census at 2 Brighton Cottages, North Road, Wimbledon, Surrey as a 26-year-old general dealer. 8 • On 5 Apr 1891 he appeared on the census in Queens Road, Mitcham, Surrey as a 37-year-old dealer. The writing is unclear but it might be fuel or an abbreviation for furniture. 9 • On 27 Feb 1900 Edwin Arthur Pharoah's birth certificate said he was a Journeyman Carpenter. 12 • On 31 Mar 1901 Richard appeared on the census at 56 Queens Road, Mitcham, Surrey as a 49-year-old carpenter's labourer. 10 • On 22 May 1904 his daughter Ada's marriage certificate said he was a tradesman. 13 • On 2 Jan 1905 his son Henry's birth certificate said he was a general shop keeper. 5 • On 2 Apr 1911 he appeared on the census at 56 Queens Road, Mitcham, Surrey as a 57-year-old general labourer in the building trade. 11 Richard married Sarah Ann FIELD, daughter of James FIELD and Mary Ann, on 7 May 1876 in St. John's Church, Fulham, Middx.1 2 (Sarah Ann FIELD was born on 1 Aug 1857 in Fulham, Middx 8 9 14 15 16 and was christened on 26 Aug 1857 in St. Paul's Church, Hammersmith, Middx 17.)    • Their witnesses were James Grover and Elizabeth Parker. 1 • Their marriage was registered during the quarter ended Jun 1876 at the Fulham registration district, with GRO reference vol 1a, page 351. 2 Richard had a relationship with Sarah Helen PEIRCE, daughter of George PEIRCE and Martha TURNER. (Sarah Helen PEIRCE was born on 6 Mar 1871 in Crawley, Sussex 10 18 19 20 21 22 and died on 12 Oct 1937.)
