• On 31 Mar 1901 Ernest appeared on the census at 86 Palm Street, Nether Hallam, Yorks as a 26-year-old stone merchant. 6
• On 2 Apr 1911 he appeared on the census at 393 Manchester Road, Sheffield, Yorks as a 36-year-old stone merchant. 2
• On 11 Feb 1930 he was awarded the probate of his mother-in-law's will, together with his wife, her daughter and was described as a quarry owner. 7
• On 10 Nov 1950 his estate was probated at the Wakefield registry, to Ellen Stafford Andrews widow, Joseph Ernest Andrews quarry manager, Eric Stafford Andrews company secretary and Stanley Stead Andrews quarry manager. Effects £10,073 2s 2d. At the time of his death he was living at 393 Manchester Road, Sheffield, Yorks. 3
Ernest married Ellen Stafford STEAD, daughter of George STEAD and Ellen STAFFORD, in 1902.1 (Ellen Stafford STEAD was born about 1873 in Sheffield, Yorks 8 9 and died on 4 May 1954 10.)
• Their marriage was registered during the quarter ended Sep 1902 at the Ecclesall Bierlow registration district, with GRO reference vol 9c, page 494. 1
Marriage Notes:
Ernest and Ellen were step-siblings. His mother and her father both died and his father and her mother married in 1897. They were in the same house for the 1901 census and married in 1902.
