Events • On 2 Apr 1871 he appeared on the census at Sandy Gate, Wath on Dearne, Yorks as a 25-year-old solicitor with two servants in the household, a nurse and a cook. 2 • On 3 Apr 1881 Beckitt appeared on the census at 33 Sandygate, Wath on Dearne, Yorks as a 35-year-old solicitor who had, as a visitor, his uncle the Right Rev. Robert Cornthwaite, Roman Catholic Bishop of Leeds. 4 • On 5 Apr 1891 he appeared on the census at 33 Sandygate, Wath on Dearne, Yorks as a 45-year-old solictor with three domestic servants plus a cook and a housemaid. 5 • On 31 Mar 1901 Beckitt appeared on the census at Sandy Gate, Wath on Dearne, Yorks as a 55-year-old solictor. 6 • On 12 Apr 1904 his estate was probated at the Wakefield registry, to his widow Eliza with effects initially valued at £11,486 12s 5d but resworn at £15,904 9s 3d. At the time of his death he was a gentleman living in Wath upon Dearne, Yorks. 3 • On 30 Jul 1917 his estate was probated for the second time. Administration (with will) was granted at the Wakefield registry to Rev. Richard Frances Byrne, clerk with effects £105. 7 Beckitt married Eliza CADMAN, daughter of William CADMAN and Margaret SMELTER, about 1870.1 (Eliza CADMAN was born about 1849 at Handsworth Grange, Handsworth, Yorks 2 4 5 6 8 9 10.)
