• On 3 Apr 1881 he appeared on the census at 1 Trafalgar Place, Tooting Graveney, Surrey as a 1-year-old. 3
• On 5 Apr 1891 William appeared on the census at 41 Stamshaw Road, Portsmouth, Hants as an eleven-year-old who was living with his mother and new step-father. 4
• On 22 May 1904 his marriage certificate said that he was a 24-year-old batchelor, a soldier and that he lived at the Inkerman Barracks, Woking, Surrey. His father, William Elford (deceased), had also been a soldier. 2
• His death was registered during the quarter ended Mar 1907 at the Wandsworth registration district, with GRO reference vol 1d, page 449. 5
William married Ada Mary PHAROAH, daughter of Richard John PHAROAH and Sarah Ann FIELD, on 22 May 1904 in The Church of the Ascension, Balham Hill, Surrey.1 2 (Ada Mary PHAROAH was born about 1884 in Wimbledon, Surrey 6 7 8.)
• Their witnesses were Frederck Ezra Blackmore and Rhoda Young. 2
