• On 2 Apr 1871 Joseph appeared on the census at 23 Doris Street West, Lambeth, Surrey as a 46-year-old harness maker. 6
• On 3 Apr 1881 he appeared on the census at 25 Princes Road (now Black Prince Road), Lambeth, Surrey as a 54-year-old harness maker. 7
• On 29 Mar 1885 his daughters Annie's marriage certificate said he was a harness maker. 8
Joseph married Ann Maria WELLS, daughter of Robert WELLS and Elizabeth, on 29 Mar 1846 at St. Anne's Church, Limehouse, Middx.1 2 (Ann Maria WELLS was born about 1827 in Ely, Cambs 4 5 6 9.)
• Their witnesses were Griffith Jenkins and Elizabeth Wells. 1
• Their marriage was registered during the quarter ended Mar 1846 at the Stepney registration district, with GRO reference Vol 2, Page 398. 2
