• On 31 Mar 1901 she appeared on the census at Woodman Road, Great Warley, Essex as a 44-year-old married woman living with her husband and 7-year-old child. 2
• On 2 Apr 1911 Esther appeared on the census at the Romford Union Workhouse and Infirmary, 1 Oldfield Road, Romford, Essex as a 56-year-old patient who had been married for 5 years with 3 children, two of whom had died. This contradicts what was gven by her husband and the marriage 17 years earlier and must be considered an error. 4
Esther married Francis H. ROLPH, son of Frederick ROLPH and Ellen Jane BIRD, in 1893.1 (Francis H. ROLPH was born about 1872 in Writtle, Essex 2 3 5 6.)
• Their marriage was registered during the quarter ended Dec 1893 at the Billericay registration district, with GRO reference vol 4a, page 597. 1
