• On 30 Mar 1851 Richard appeared on the census at Lacy's Cottages, Glynde, Sussex as a 77-year-old former agricultural labourer living off the bounty of Mrs F Hayes. ⁴

Richard married Barbara BANKS, daughter of Charles BANKS and Elizabeth COTTINGTON, on 26 Oct 1795 in the Parish Church, Little Horsted, Sussex.¹ (Barbara BANKS was born on 8 Aug 1774 in Framfield, Sussex ^{3 4} and was christened on 21 Aug 1774 in Framfield, Sussex.)
