He probably died before 1888 as his wife remarried in June 1888. However, he never appears on the cnsus with her, so possibly he had deserted her and she remarried anyway.
Robert married Harriett SPOONER, daughter of John SPOONER and Sarah HOLMSHAW, about 1871.1 (Harriett SPOONER was born in 1853 in Sheffield, Yorks 3 and died in 1918 4.)
• Their marriage was registered during the quarter ended Sep 1871 at the Ecclesall Bierlow registration district, with GRO reference Vol 9c, Page 266. 1
