• On 17 Oct 1874 his son Joseph's marriage certificate said that he had been an agricultural labourer. 7
Richard married Sarah KNIGHT, daughter of John KNIGHT and Mary WINDLEY, on 21 Dec 1802 in Writtle, Essex. (Sarah KNIGHT was born in 1782 in Writtle, Essex 8 9, christened on 15 Sep 1782 in Writtle, Essex 10 and died in 1850 11.)
• Their witnesses were J. Horslen and R. Grove. John Horslen was Richard's Mother Elizabeth's husband, who had changed his name from Horsnail to Horslen. 4
